The open source giant Mozilla corporation has officially announced the release of its beta version of the new browser, Mozilla FireFox 3.6. The browser is now available for a test drive which can be installed in windows, MAC and Linux operating systems and supports almost 60 languages. Developers and technology aspirants who wish to test their skills are welcome to report for any issues and bugs which can help optimize the browser before the launch of the complete product.
The release plan of the browser dates back to December 2008. The organisation also proposed plan for version 3.7, and 4.0 which is expected to be released shortly. The beta version supports web technologies like HTML 5 featuring asynchronous script execution, CSS and DOM which will load the web pages faster. It also supports device orientation, accelerometer for MAC Books and Personas which allows users to change the browser’s appearance. It has fixed almost 80 bugs in the previous version (Mozilla FireFox 3.5) which improves performance, stability and security. The browser will alert users about the out dated plug-ins, play native videos in full screen mode and supports WOFF font format.
The 7.7 Mb executable file is built on Mozilla’s Gecko 1.9.2 web rendering platform. The browser is expected to be more responsive and has been designed to run even on small operating systems like windows CE and Maemo. The developers of the beta version have released few know issues in its official web site and has promised to fix it soon. Lets get started and feel some faster browsing.
